Natural Resource Management
Towards Sustainable Fisheries Management in the Montego Bay Marine Park
Designed project, secured funding and provided management and technical services on a progressive, community-based natural resource management initiative.

Economically Viable Alternative Livelihoods (EVAL) – Dolphin Head Trust
Identified and evaluated eight community-based, environmentally compatible enterprises; developed ranking criteria, conducted market-demand studies, and business plans for nature-based enterprises.

Business Planning
Boutique Hotel Feasibility Assessment
Developed financial feasibility assessment tool to determine viability of proposed development. Calculator generated Fixed/Operating Expenses, Occupancy Rates, Debt/Equity Scenarios, Gross/Net Income, and Return on Investment.

Business Plan Development – Negril Coral Reef Preservation Society
Produced business plan to support sustainable income generation through the integration of compatible business development opportunities in the daily operations of the Negril Marine Park.

Business Assessment and Development
Conducted assessment of medium-sized boutique hotel resort, and generated Business Plan: Business Overview, seven-year financial summaries, Market and Business Strategies, Business Controls and five-year financial projections based on expansion plan and market-share projections. Plan used to secure loan for furthering development interests.

Capacity Development/Institutional Strengthening
Montego Bay Marine Park Trust
Conducted Institutional Capacity Assessment, developed comprehensive project management system utilizing software solutions to coordinate planning and management of multiple projects within the context of organizational objectives.

The Nature Conservancy
Produced three-year country strategy for The Nature Conservancy-Jamaica Country Program to support Environmental NGOs managing Jamaican national parks. Strategy outlined approaches for long-term financial sustainability, increased performance and accountability. Plan currently being implemented by the Nature Conservancy, with support from USAID, and the U.S. Forest Service.

United States Peace Corps
Designed and delivered environmental training program for twenty Peace Corps Volunteers. Developed and implemented training curriculum, evaluated Trainee competencies, and advised on site placement.

Land O'Lakes, International Development Division - USAID, Farmer-to-Farmer Programme
Reviewed institutional capacity of the Dolphin Head Trust through SWOT analyses and capacity indicators; clarified Mission/Goals/Objectives, conducted financial sustainability analysis and assisted in the development of strategic plan.

Proposal Development
Towards Sustainable Fisheries Management in the Montego Bay Marine Park
Designed Fisheries management strategy for the Montego Bay Marine Park and wrote proposal to support education, institutional strengthening and behavior modification of key resource users in protected areas. Project designed to support future development of low-impact, nature-based enterprises in the Marine Park.

Improved Governance of the Montego Bay Marine Park
Wrote proposal for improved governance of the Montego Bay Marine Park to address key issues underpinning Marine Park Governance: developing financing streams through a user-fee systems, updating legal instruments, and developing a discrete scientific monitoring a management programme.

Dolphin Head Appropriate Resource Utilization (DHARU)
Prepared proposals, work plans, Terms of References and Scopes of Work. Identified key deliverables and designed work plan/contract for the Natural Capitalism Group. Inspected sites for proposed development of nature trails, developed project budgets and advised on the overall implementation of project activities and administrative concerns.

Monitoring and Evaluation
Environmental Foundation of Jamaica
Ensured efficient implementation of project activities funded by the Environmental Foundation of Jamaica; Evaluated project performance, reporting and financial management; advised on project progress, barriers and strategies for improvement.
